|CHILDREN’S BUREAU AUXILIARY MINUTES OF THE GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING February 20, 2007Prior to the meeting, in the spirit of the 75th anniversary celebration plan, members modeled hats from the 1930’s and 40’s that were borrowed from Connie Odekirk’s daughter-in-law’s father’s collection.
Those present: Sue McClure, Anne McDaniel, Sue Roper, Shirley Lewis, Kathleen McGrath, Marie Miller, Andra Sudler, Mary Kate Myers, Linda Reinking, Rosie Houff, Jennifer Bakx, Sandy Kurker, Carol Herman, Mary Ann Pahud.
The meeting was called to order at 10:35 by acting president, Andra Sudler.
She reminded everyone that the next meeting is Tuesday, March 20, at Mary Ferree’s home. The meeting will begin at 6:00 with wine and cheese.
Treasurer: Kathleen McGrath reported that we have $17,495.68 in our account. This includes $12,000 from the Angel Fund proceeds and $3000 from the Rosie Lanum fund.
Pink Slips: The Membership approved the $60 reimbursement for grades from Evans House.
75th Anniversary: Mary Kate Myers gave a Power Point presentation telling the story of the Auxiliary in the 1930’s and 40’s. The Anniversary committee passed out a packet of ‘sticky notes’ with the 75th Anniversary logo and reported that a pad would also be included in the mailing to the sustainers. The schedule of events will be included in the Reflector mailing as well as on our web site.
Ann Frick is working on a booklet that will be passed out at the Sept. 7 celebration dinner.
Evans House: Several activities have been scheduled only to be cancelled at the last minute by the Program Director. The committee will follow up with Jon Bennett.
Garrard House: Carol Herman and her daughter went to Garrard on Super Bowl Sunday, to teach the girls how to do origami. They were met with considerable resistance and negative attitudes. After much prompting and ‘encouragement’ they decided to cooperate and enjoyed the activity once they became engaged.
Marie Miller took the girls to CC’s Pizza for Valentines Day and also gave the girls a stamped Valentine so they could send it to anyone they chose. In March, the girls are going to the Morris Butler House for High Tea.
Courage Center: Andra Sudler took Valentine Day treat bags to the children at Courage Center. She and Jane Quinn continue to do an activity with the children one Monday each month.
Reflector: Carol Herman has been working on the articles for the Reflector. Kathleen McGrath will mail it on Thursday, February 22.
75th Anniversary: The schedule of activities will be included with all communications.
For the April 17 CBA/Staff Luncheon all past presidents will be invited. We need all Committee Chairs to attend. Connie Odekirk is to get the date to Jon Bennett so he can have the Program Managers from the Group Homes to save the date.
Fashion Show: The next Fashion Show committee meeting is March 1, at 9:30, at Andra Sudler’s.
The Invitation ‘stuffing’ will be March 12 at Kathleen McGrath’s from 10:00 – 2:00. All are welcome for as long as they can stay.
The provider of the fashions will be J. Shepard at Clay Terrace.
“Save the Date” postcards are being mailed today.
Each Group Home committee is asked to put together a basket for the raffle for the Fashion Show. Anne McDaniel is coordinating the mailing to businesses requesting donations for raffle items.
We have sixteen vendors for Blooming Boutiques; this number is consistent with the past numbers at this time.
Angel Fund: Sue McClure reported that we received an additional $225. The total proceeds now equal $12,216.62.
There being no additional business, the meeting adjourned at 11:30. A soup lunch followed.
